I bought a lt 80 for my kid and he now has about 12 hours on it. Today he was riding and it started to have a real loud sound from the motor area. Almost like someone put a pipe on the bike. I started looking around and noticed the bike was not smoking at all. Normally you can see the smoke from the oil.

Has anyone else had problems with the oil pump or other oil delivery parts on this bike?

Thanks

I have not heard of a auto lube problem, but we remove all that and run pre-mix. Did the fan fall off? Or maybe the lil piece that drives the oil pump(maybe a front clutch problem)keep me informed please

LT80 is a good source of info for the LT80. You may also check the exhaust flange at the head and even the cylinder head gasket. I had one 90 that sounded like it had an exhaust leak. What really happened was that the head gasket blew out on side near the exhaust. It ran but sounded like an exhaust leak. When that happened, it ran lean and did not smoke.

Good luck

raptor720: your correct, the gaskets may also be the problem.the more I think about it the less I think there is an oiling problem, but maybe the line got plugged or something. My boy told me there was a bee in the motor, urned out that the head gasket spit out and acually burnt/blew a hole in the engine plastic

Thats funny you mention the exhaust. Thats what it sounded like to me that it was loose but i went to tighten it and it was. The motor is alot louder. It might be a gasket but there are hardly any hours on the quad.

Thanks

I bet $$ it is the head gasket. I solved the problem with a .020" thick copper gasket and a steel o ring in the head. I also use an aluminum base gasket

my fix to the gasket problems was to drill and tap the cases and install 10mm hardened studs, now I can tighten the head to 200 inchpounds- stock I had to quit at 115 or risk stripping the stock 6mm stud

Ah, one of the benefits of the Kasea is the factory 10mm studs.

Wow, this is weird. I just fixed my sons ATV as it also had a blown head gasket. It too was blown out at the rear just above the exhaust pipe/port. Must be a weekness for the LT80's.

Well i just got word from the dealer. The motor is shot. Im guessing that it was the headgasket but i was not told this yet. The quad had about 10hrs on it and is 6months and 3 weeks old. The warranty is only good for 6months. The dealer said they will honor it thru suzuki or they will take care of it as this should not have happened from a few rides on the grass.

Is this a major problem with the lt80??????? After it is fixed will it keep doing it or not????????
