interesting mod on PDV banshee w/ 'zuk parts
#1
i was reading an article on another website about the winning banshee from the pont de vaux race held in france every year. i found this interesting section about one mod to increase performance and strength of the rear axle. note that it's a durablue X-33... and they had been breaking them, now all they have to do is market it as a combination(all the parts needed for the conversion) for the Z400 and others.... yes it would be expensive, but virtually unbreakable... i wish i could tell suzuki to do it from the factory...."hey suzuki, wake up!"
"Pont de Vaux is primarily a rough TT-style course, but there are several big jumps and the quads take quite a pounding. After breaking three aftermarket rear axles at one particularly brutal PDV event, the Duncan team went to work on a solution, and in '95 came up with the answer in the form of an aftermarket axle designed for Suzuki's big LT500R. Fabrication was required to adapt the larger-diameter axle to a 250R-style swingarm, but the effort bore fruit--the team hasn't broken a rear axle since."
