I am still trying to get a new quad, and the 250R is about the only thing that i want that I can afford! but all the clean ones are just too expensive. So I was thinking, there is a nice LT500 with an LRD motor for $3500 about 40 miles from me. I'd plan on getting some Ohlins front shocks, re-valve rear, and a dura-blue axle, and race it in my local MX series. I have a close to rolling 500 chassis, and the way the front end is way up front, does this cause for bad handling? Does anyone in here race there 500 in a MX series? I have always had to be the fastest on my block, and right now I am, well next to a KTM520 anyway, but I have been wanting to race MX for 2 years also. I know on local level racing the rider is more important than the machine, and although I feel I am a strong rider, I don't want to be the guy who got stomped on by a 250 in a MX race with a Zilla.

All I know about them is they are bad-***, and any handling problems are made up with a sweet motor. I tryed pulling up a picture of the Zilla I am looking at but there isn't one online, only in the mag for some reason, but it looks sweet.

"1987 LT500 FMF pip and silencer, LRD built motor, cool head, 44mm carb, K&n filter, new seat cover, have all paper work. $3500 or trade for 88-89 250R." Sound like a good deal?

I love the handling on my zilla not as good as my 400ex but very good and I also like the wide stance you can get some awesome slides with that beast.

Good, I like a quad where I have to actually work to ride it hard, maybe I'll lose some weight but has anyone ridden there Zilla's on the MX track? What was it like? Handling wise, compared to an LT250, are they pretty close?

we had a guy at our local mx track racing a lt500 but it had reliability problems.Every week he would break something on it.He ended up selling it for a 400ex and says he would never go back. And yes, he had all the go fast parts on it, shocks pipe etc.

I'll let you know. If I get mine back together in time! I'm planning on racing hare scrambles this spring. The track then goes to mx in the summer and will try that then. I raced my best friend on his Honda 250r on a grass track set up for bikes. On the straights I had him hands down but he got me in the turns. Time will tell.

There is another one that I think I would rather have, because with the extra parts it comes with, I could have 2 Zilla's almost. Tell me what you think about this LT500 the only thing that sucks is it is pretty far away, and about $1000 more.
