Made in USA? Does it matter?

WHO REALLY CARES! I mean, you should buy the quad that suits you best and not worry about where it is made. Does anyone honestly think that their four to six thousand dollar purchase is really going to make a difference in the grand scheme of things? Let me fill you in...it isn't. Why not just buy the machine that fits your needs the best and go on to do the important things like ride and enjoy yourself. It does not matter what brand you ride, the main thing is to have fun. Let the marketing people try to find another angle to seperate the people from their money. That is really what it is all about.

Get used to the New-World-Order people. It is a Global Economy and not buying something because of where it was made is just about as low-brow as you can get. Take your blinders off and and think about it. We need the world just as much as they need us. I work for GE and there would be almost none of this developement and cool stuff we like without our diverse product lines and factory locations throughout the world. GE got to be a Fortune "1" company because of the recognition of resources in other countries. For example: GE Plastics has 80% market share on ABS plastic in all cars on the planet. A lot of it is made in Europe and Japan with most of it right here in the USA. There is no line to distinguish the products based on location. If you aren't thinking Global, you are stuck in the dark age.
My 2 cents.

I try to buy made in the USA whenever possible. If we would have protected our borders twenty five years ago, perhaps the millions of good paying manufacturing jobs would still be around. As far as the global economy goes, it's NOT good for America. It's good for a few at the top. It's impossible for American workers to compete with people making a couple dollars a day. Those people aren't buying made in the USA products, they can't afford them. So, all we get from the global experience is cheap labor. As for Mr. Blasphemer, you live in one of the poorest states in the nation. A right to work state. In the bottom rung of pay, standard of living, per pupil spending in school...etc, etc. So I reckon your state already feels the "global experience".

400x,
First of all, thanks for replying to my post. Second, you are obviously bitter and that explains your rude and obnoxiously inaccurate comments about my state of residence. Next, your parrot like retoric has its "Truth" based on assumptions and hearsay. The numbers don't show we have a competition problem. I suggest some Micro and Macro Economics books/classes. You are sorely misinformed. Lastly, hind site is 20/20, and splitting hairs over what atv/car/stereo is made in the USA is mute. Everything in them is made all over the world. You can be bitter all you want, but smart money is on the best product no matter where it is made.

So, if the cheap labor in this global economy is overseas and it's ok to buy from their companies and support their workers, where are the US citizens supposed to work?
Not everyone has a degree, blue color workers will always need a place to work. Most would rather work in a good US factory or assembly line rather than at Jack-In-the-Box!
And yes, I feel every dollar I spend has to account for something somewhere.

I'm surprised that Cannondale hasn't been mentioned at all in this! I know for a fact that a large part of their parts are made in the USA because the CDale plant is only 1 county away from me and in the machine shop that I work in we make a lot of their parts. Mostly for bikes though, but I'm pretty sure we do stuff for the dirt bikes and quads too. I was running some of these in a CNC lathe last week. Someday I hope to work there.

Ok Blasphemer,
I realize this is NOT a political forum, but I just couldn't let your post go unanswered. I was not being rude or obnoxious. My comments were based on "fact". As far as being bitter, nothing could be farther from the truth. I'm originally from Alabama. We came to Michigan for the money. I work as a sheet metal worker. Last year, I made well over thirty dollars an hour. This doesn't include the fantastic benefits bargained for me by my union. I love my job and I do it very well. I show up every day, and my boss knows he can rely on me. So, not all union workers are "fat and lazy". You could use some down where you live. I'll give you a couple examples of why:
According to the US Census:
16 of the bottom 20 states in income are right to work. Mississippi is number 49.
As for per pupil spending, the numbers are similar for right to work states. Mississippi is again, number 49.
The numbers for those without health care are just as bad.
If those numbers don't prove anything, what would? How about all those shops along the Rio Grande river, just on the other side in Mexico? Sweat shops manned by people not even making enough money to survie. What does that show? American workers CANNOT compete with those wage earners.
There is lots of information available. It shows just the opposite of what you propose. They way I see it, the numbers DO add up to you not knowing what you are talking about. Maybe you are one of the few to have it made in your state, but you are an exception to the rule.
400x (still not being rude or obnoxious)
BUY AMERICAN!!!
