well that is 1 of your problems, your used to inferior machines, and I don't want to be insulting but a man that has had a machine a week and has had a problem since he brought it home, can't be all that bright. I would have put it back in the truck and immediately taken it back to the dealer, as I'm sure most anyone would have done. I have ridden the inferior machines in the past, but I will always go with suzuki, they have yet to do me wrong. But as a suggestion, I think you need to take the machine in and tell them what happened and when. If you haven't put alot of miles on it they might trade it for another one, but who knows......

No, I just like to have a new machine every year, and this year I got a deal on 3 so I took it, besides that it pays to have a few extras just in case family or friends come for a visit or want to do a lil hunting, besides that I am part owner in a hunting and fishing guide service where we use the machines for our clients. We meaning HUNTFISHALASKA and myself.

The shifter problem is very real. It is very bad on my machine, and to make matters worse, Suzuki is refusing to install the kit because the bike is "not broken in yet". I'm asking for my money back. I cannot enjoy a machine that gets stuck in reverse or won't go into reverse without a lot of screwing around.

Your dealer sure aren't being very helpful from what I hear. Waiting for your machine to be broken in before the shift kit is installed is bull. I am a mechanic at a Suzuki dealer and we are installing the shift kits on our new machines even before they go out the door. We notified all our customers who purchased vinsons before the shift kit came out to bring them back so we can put the kits in. For those of you who are having trouble shifting find a dealer who will install the shift kit, find a different dealer who will help even though they all should all be installing the kit hassle free. The vinson is an exceptional machine that shouldn't be run down because of poor dealers. Once you get your shift kit installed your shifting troubles will be over.

Wow, I'm glad to hear that from a Suzuki mechanic. What is the name of your dealership, and location, so I can cite an example of a place that will install the kit?

Well, no thanks to the Suzuki mechanic from Winnipeg who states that all Suzuki's are shifter-fixed at delivery...from a dealer that can't be disclosed.

It was hell getting them to do the fix on mine, but it is done now, and it does shift better. It is still sticky getting out of reverse, but much improved.

I know that Suzuki has come out with a fix for the Vinson's shifter. The dealer has to install the kit at no cost to you. Suzuki will pay the dealer for 12hrs of labor to install the kit. The 03 Vinsons will come with the new kit already installed. Stand your ground with the dealer. Tell them to intall the shifter kit or your lawyer will be calling them. I,ve had mine since Jan. and have 1200 miles on it. My shifter works fine.

everybody is having problem with the shifter, had one for work 3 months and it's been in the shop 4 times. They claim the problem is a plastic one the transmission, replaced it twice and put on a 2 new cables... Anybody else been through this, does the shifter kit fix it????
