First Ride Impressions of the Z400
#1
I was able to get about an hour of riding in today before a ranger tried to make me pay to keep riding. It was almost dark so there was no way I was paying.
Anyways, what an awesome quad! I did not go all out on it because I want to break it in properly (so hard to do!). It does have great power from when I did get on it. I've only ridden a 400ex a couple times but I know this is a lot faster.
As for being tippy, I didn't think it was at all and this is after riding a LT with extended a-arms and axle for years. Maybe some of these people making comments don't know what leaning is. Compared to a Raptor, well the only Raptor I've ridden had +3 a-arms and extended axle. I still plan to widen it though since I do a lot of desert and dune riding. The suspension seemed a little stiff to me but I'll wait to put some more hours on it before messing with it.
One thing I was a little concerned about is after the first ride I let it cool down and when I went to start it again, it had a hard time starting back up. I finally got it started again and it's worked fine since. I got to hit some nice big rocks and the plastic (or whatever they are) skid plates held up pretty well. Overall, I'm very happy with it. This weekend I'll get some good time on it and finally open her up. Hopefully there will be some 400ex's and Raptors to compare against so we can get this feud over with!
One more thing...I ride around 5500' in elevation and in the manual it has nothing about recommended jetting for different elevations. Being a 2-stroke owner for the last 13 years, I'm use to rejetting when I go up or down. What's the deal with 4-strokes? I've heard they aren't as picky but what about when I go to Glamis where it's about 150'?
