Dynojet just did some runs on a new Raptor, Z400, and 400EX... the results are at www. s p o r t q u a d .com and are under the June issue, I believe. No big surprise here, the Raptor makes mucho more top-end and ends up with a 10hp peak power advantage. The Z400 makes about 2-3 hp more than the 400EX, if I remember correctly.

Its weird, when I look at the dyno's I see a 6.7 hp advantage for the Raptor over the Z400 not 10. Maybe you were looking at the 400ex numbers and got confused.

Those are the lowest numbers Ive ever seen for the Z and ex and the highest ive ever seen for the raptor...looks like BS to me.
I am constantly seeing 33 rwhp for the Z not broken in and 35 for the raptor nice and broke in.
The raptor has nothing on the Z...except worse handling and 30 pounds.

Yeah,ok. Look at what normal people say.The raptor does have the edge. Lets just not compare numbers. Suzuki has it's guns set at honda,it's obvious. If suzuki wanted to blow the raptor away,they would have. People say both axles bend easily. Sooo if you just buy a wider axle for the Raptor your handeling(sp?) improves alot. Then the Z400 loses alot of it's edge.


It probably does handle a little better afterwards anyway,but then the power difference closes the gap. The purpose of the suzuki is to have another quad out there to kill the EX,and its sales. Which now,because they're 4 new thumpers that eat the EX,only people that will buy them soon enough are hard-core honda only riders like pismoguy........


I know most people don't want to hear this,but it's happening,time for honda to step up to the plate.

 

I actually started this thread and guess what! I bought the DS650! and WOW its has BOAT loads of power.. Does it really matter? I did not expect this long list of big d!ck contests. but its all in good fun. Ride what you like. Simple as that.
