Get a grip guys. suzuiki built a nice 400cc quad.
It may be a 400EX killer but it will never be a Raptor killer. To be better than the Raptor it would need to have a high tech, high strung motor like a CRF450R that would need constant matinentce & would be as high strung as a race horse, & you all would be complaining to suzuiki saying "what do you mean it needs a valve job & rings every 20 hours"!!

Mabey in the next couple of years they will come out with a big bore quad that will take on the Raptor.
For now just enjoy your Z400's for what they are, A killer 400cc class quad.

If you go Raptor hunting your just going to be disapointed.

 

yes, the suzi handles way better in the woods. my cousin bought a 2002 raptor rode it a month and sold it. kept his 400ex but the suzi smokes all. the key is beat the raptor out of the hole ...it's very easy, raptors suck!!!!!

I'm sure the z400 is an excellent machine, but you would be a complete idiot to think it would run down a raptor stock vs stock or built vs built in any kind of drag race, I don't care if it's a 300' or 900' drag race. That's like saying a Nascar will beat a top fuel dragster in a 1/4 mile drag. It's completely stupid to compare the two when it comes to drag racing, their both great machines in their areas. Just like it would be completely stupid to compare the z400 to the Raptor on motocross track where the z400 would emerge victorious over the raptor.

It all boils down to which style of riding an individual prefers. If you like drag racing and sand dunes go with the "Raptor", Banshee, or DS, If you like motocross go with a Z400, C-Dale, 250r, or 400ex. Come on, it's not rocket science.

All you children saying this bike sucks, that bike sucks, need to wake up. As for the Raptor sucking in the woods, LMAO. The Raptor was made for the woods. Why do you think the width is only 43.5" stock? I'll keep up with any of you Z's and EX anywhere anytime, in any woods. Then come to my mountain trails and try and stay up with me. And thats with my Raptor widened to 48" +. These trails are so tight the wheels ride on the crests of the trail on each side. Trees, stumps and rocks galore. Get a life.

 

I love my Z400. If I bought a Raptor I would love my Raptor. If I bought a DS650 I would love that too. Everyone just stop it. Its only natural to be defensive of what you bought and paid for with your hard earned money. These forums should be used for information NOT flaming posts to see who is more childish. I'm not saying lets all hold hands and be friends but lets get along. We are very lucky to have these forums, lets not abuse them like this.

At 6000rpms, the difference is almost exactly 10hp.....although it is past peak HP, AlaskaYFM is correct in his previous statement.
Looks like the Raptor has roughly another 1000 rpms available on top too. But the intentions were met.....more power over the 400ex.
