carb question for KNOWSALOT

would the style of carb on the Vinson possibly be the reason that some of the Vinson owners are having troubles with the fenders melting? This may seem like a stupid question, but since the carb/fuel line don't work without the motor running due to the vacuum system, I was just curious if it could be running fuel back to the muffler during deceleration (engine braking) and then igniting, causing the muffler to overheat.
I've had this problem myself and after engine braking, I will occasionally hear a "POOF" from gas igniting in the muffler. I've also noticed that the muffler has turned blue before the break-in period was over. Is this typical for the stainless muffler to get that hot?
Thanks for your help.

Suzuki has yet to bring about a bulletin that addresses this issue.
It doesn't happen to all Vinson owners and that's where the rpoblem lies. Why is it not happening to everyone?
One thing that DOES cause this is slow operation. The stock exhaust on the Vinson is VERY restrictive. We have overheated a unit before by just driving around the parking lot.
I do not believe it to be a carb problem of any kind unless it's somehow related to the extreme exhaust backpressure.
You should carry yours to your dealer and have him contact Suzuki with the problem with your serial number. When there is enough documentation within Suzuki to warrant a bulletin...we will all see results.
This is the same thing going on right now with Suzuki regarding the axle problems on the Z-400s.
