I know you only wanted negs, but I got my Z around Dec 2002, and I have done everything I can to bend the axle. I ride both trails and MX tracks and my axle is fine. I'm 190 lbs and don't see any problems. I do think the stock filter and pipe are really weak. I just got a Pro-Circuit pipe full system and K&N and I am way impressed. Could ride almost the whole track in third, and it pulled hard the whole time. Great machine..but as with most stock machines, needs aftermarket shocks to me really good on the track.

I've owned my z400 for about 10mnths. now, and have had more problems out of it than my 18 year old Honda 250R. WELL ALMOST AS MANY. Hey dont get me wrong there is alot i like about it, but so far , like every one else i've bent the axle. Bent a tie rod easing over a small log, and bent the front left wheel, which was my fault. But for the main attraction, my engine is destoyed now. Keep in mind i work 7 days a week, so my riding time is very limited. And no I did'nt buy the extended warranty. I was riding it for the 1st time ever at night July 5th. Rode approx. 2miles down a trail , I accelerated to 4th gear then BAM! I heard a pop and didnt know what the H3LL happened. Now I think Suzuki should fix it , but they are giving me the run around cause I maintain the quad myself. Trust me I change the oil religiously, 2 times, in the 1st month I owned it. If anyone knows how or where I can get a new crate engine for it please let me know. OH Yea, I tore the top end down, and my connecting rod is broke straight across under the wrist pin. The rest of the rod is unreconizable. It even came up thru the crank case and dent the end of my starter. TALK ABOUT DESTRUCTION! I hope all you z400 owners can help me somehow and better luck 2 ya'll.
