Zilla vibration ?

350X, I don't know how the 250 is set up but with the 500 there is no need to make sure the piston is at TDC. As long as the three dots are lined up, the vibes will be damped. Aligning the dot on the crankshaft (which of course moves with the piston) will asure that the piston-to-counterbalancer relationship is correct. I would think that the 250 would have been made exactly the same.

When I rebuilt the top end on my 87 (already had case inserts the summer before the guy I bought it from bought it from another guy I think I know what I meant) Anyway, it vibrated like hell, and I pulled the rod up to TDC (jug was off being bored) and I lined up the dots, and once I got it all running again it was a lot smoother than before. The dots here lined up but I read on here awhile back to have the piston at TDC, so I think it helped........Latah......

Chapy,
Didn't you learn last time at T. City???? I witnessed that spectacle. C'Mon brother the Zilla is Awesome but buy something reliable that you might actually get to ride. Don't bust on the DOG!! He was just repeating what you said when the zilla decided to become extinct AGAIN!!!! Later Bro!

Chapy, you have to remember that there are three dots total not just the two on the gears. One of the dots is actually on the crank itself. That means that it rotates in direct correlation with piston position. There is absolutely, positively no way for the relative position of the piston and crank to change. In other words, the dot on the end of the crank in solidly connected to the crank pin and therefore cannot move independantly. The connecting rod is attached to the crank pin (through use of a needle bearing) and the other end of the connnecting rod is attached to the piston (again with a bearing). Anybody that had to even look at the piston position when installing the balancer either had a crank without a dot (perhaps a poorly made aftermarket crank) or they did not know the correct procedure.

To let eveyone know my Zilla is up and running stronger than ever just ask guardog about the a$$ whoopin he received. I broke a ball joint about an hour later but that is fixed now too. Thanks for the input.
