mud tires for King Quad
#1
Hey fellers,
Here in Georgia even when the mud is only a couple inches thick it's slicker 'n owl s**t, so I'm always losing traction on muddy hills/banks with the stock tires on my '99 King Quad. I'm getting aftermarket tires & have decided that I just don't wanna go bigger than stock. I've decided to go with the Titan AT589 for the back in stock size, but that tire ain't available in a 24" tire for an 11" rim for the front. Can you guys suggest a front tire for me? something that'll mud good but not beat me up on the trail?
I'd have posted this in the tire section bt only wanted folks that more likely knew what's best for the King Quad.
THANKS!

Tic - My brother and I both run king quads in east Tennessee, similar mud as you. He switched to Titan 489 on front and rear about a month ago. The 489 is listed as the same size as stock OEM tires. In reality the rears are about 1 1/2" taller and about 1" narrower. The fronts are about 1 1/2" taller and about 1" wider than stock. Our last trip out was last weekend on the first nice day after several days of rain. With the same bike it was easy to compare tires. On monday I bought a set of 489's all around. The 489 is similar to the 589, not quite as aggressive (it has more lugs and they're cut up into 3 parts) but it would probably steer better on the front end than the 589. I hope to try them out this weekend. My brother says that his ride like the OEM tires except with better mud grip. He did notice that the front end tended to bottom out and rub sooner but he runs with a heavy winch/bracket and a fully loaded front rack. From the back end I could tell that he would sling out a 10' long rooster tail of gravel whenever we ran on hardpack gravel.

Hey
I think i might consider getting the mud bug for my quad because the stuff you and i go through sound about the same. The mud bugs are the lightest mud tires on ther market.I also might consider waiting for the 26" outlaws because high lifter says they will be the baddset and best tires out there.I think the 27" tires would be too big.

dude
mud bugs are the best thin 6-ply mudders
but the new outlaws would be nice
you need at least 25 front and back it is afact though man!
you need a combo of tires
like 589's on the back
and some 25 bugs on the front to make your ground clearance high
