On shifting..

This may sound strange to some of you, but while riding a motocross bike most if not all racers do not use the clutch to shift gears(while in motion, not from a stand still). While ripping through the woods it is way faster not having to use the clutch on 2-3-4-5th gear shifts. What is your opinion on this? Is it ok, or will it total your tranny?

Thanks

It is not the best thing for your gears but it works. I personally cut my clutch levers down so I can do a real quick two-finger clutch. This way I don't have to take my hand off of the bars, just two fingers. Most of the time when there is a lot of torque on the tranny it will not shift and you can lose time from not shifting immediately.
