I'm in a close debate with my left and right side. One wants to open it all the way up on the mid to upper band, but the other is saying I want low to mid range. And I'm driving myself nuts. I'm thinking of going with the low to mid band because I'm going to go with a .090 over piston, plus I already have a FMF Fatty, so it makes sense to go with the lower end of the band. I just want enough torque to hit the big jumps at the MX track, but be able to pull away in the long straight stretch. (Also to whip my friends 250r who runs the same division I do)

Also I'm thinking of sending it to Eric Gorr's Forward Motion, but I've read he mildly ports the cylinder. Or does he do a decent job for the $$$.

My brother sent him a 500 cylinder to port and it took way too long and they sent him gaskets he didn't want. The worst part was he barely even touched the ports. My brother got his money back and I took it over to Trinity and they said the ports looked stock. After a turbo and o-ringed head and a stage 4 port job he was finally happy. With the 440 kit you will gain bottom. Look for posts on my motor and stages are completed. On Monday Harry will begin stage 2 of the port job and add a 40mm carb. It already has the 440 kit in it and the cams are to come.

WOW, over $1000 for a stage 4 kit. Dang, your brother must be serious about his quad. I'm more looking along the line of $200. for just a port job. I still don't really know which I want, but I'm thinking I'm going to go with the lower band. Now I just got to find a place that won't charge out the waho.

I have a spare powerband in my garage you can have. It is very soft in the middle, but it will still hit very hard if you whip it just right. JK. I would think you should probably go for a little low end and mid range for moto. Top end is great for desert, dunes, or hill shooters, but it can be a bit of a handfull on the tracks and trails.

If you can spend about $500-700 I would say try FTZRacing. I think they do port jobs for like $525, I aint sure. I'll go to there website to make sure.

Ok, I'm back. The porting and polishing is about $250. They have more things they can do though. You might wanna check out there website for yourself. They also have carb setups (pump gas and alcohol setups), pipe setups and some other stuff.
website is ftzracing.com
Hope this helps

Yeah LT250RSuperstar, I've been there and they are probably who I will go with. I actually can spend about $300, but I was hoping to be able to put some $$ elsewhere. I have a friend who is a mechanical engineer, and also builds roll cages for race cars, he is going to build me some extended A-arms for my quad, and I was wanting to put the money there. He's already got it drawn up on the CAD program, we just got to build them, plus modify where they mount on the frame to eliminate bump steer. After all that, Zero-Preload shocks But that's after a couple of paychecks roll in

If you want to haul a$$ and be reliable you have to spend money. You get what you pay for.
