Whats a good way to modify or replace the air box to get a little more air to the carb?I think it would be better to take out the air box and run a new tube and filter.Does anyone make something like this.It seems that the original intake tube is too small am i wrong? What i did to my sons lt. I took off the airbox on the top of the lid you will see the opening that lets the air in, yes it is very small. I took a knife and made the opening about 4x the size. Works ok.

In my oppinion air box mods are not needed,,being clocked at 53 mph(on a TT track) w/stock airbox/carb is why I think that way.The cylinder is where to get speed. The carb gets plenty of air.

from the way it sounds to me, it sounds like you are talking a LT80 being clocked at 53mph. if this is correct, may i ask what drugs you are currently smoking? i'm all for mini quads, (i think it's awesome that the wee ones can now ride along with their dads and the rest of the riding family) but i highly doubt you got a lt80 to go 53 mph, knowing that stock it revs out at 25mph or so. if this is in fact true, may i ask what in the world you did to that lt80 to make it go that fast? it makes sense to do that on a TT track because if you did that on a MX track and if the terrain was anything but flat and if you're flat out haulin @$$ if you hit a pebble or bump you'd be toast LOL

i'm really interested to see what you've done to that lt80....sounds like if you're being honest it has to be a wicked machine

Don't doubt him,he's been racing LT80's for a long time, plus I myself have seen drags with modified minis, and have seen a warmed over LT80 hit 60 in a 1/8th mile, there's a lot of potential in some of those little 2 strokes !!!

LT is right, I have a machine that he built. On a large ice racing track my son was clocked at 48 mph. That was before I figured out the best way to get speed and power to the ground out of the little machine. Our goal last year was to beat the 48 mph but the race got cancelled, hopefully this winter we will get the chance to run the big track and get it over 50. It should be pretty easy with the help of Lt, he has many of good ideas and between the trial and error we hope to crush it.
