Who needs a big bore to keep up with a big bore for most types of riding?

i think they came out with a 400 so they can contend in sanctioned racing, not just open class.

I believe there are a couple reasons that Suzuki came out with the 400 first. #1 is like what was mentioned earlier with the sanctioned races. What better way to catch the public's eye when they start winning races. And that leads into the #2 reason: Beating Honda who has reigned supreme for the last 15 years in racing and quality of product. They wanted to enter this market to garner the market share. Now if they want a bigger piece of the pie, they will enter into the big-bore market and pacify those like myself who are always wanting something bigger, better (IMHO), and faster and contend with the like sof the Raptor, DS 650, and now the Predator. Just wait, I don't think Suzuki is done yet.

I guess I should have phrased my post a little better. Doug Gust is only one person however. The proof will be when we see more Suzuki based machines earning their spot on the podium. Doug is an exceptionally great rider with the crew to give him the support he needs in sponsorship and the pit.
