YZGUY.....

Yeah, I'm just having some fun myself. One thing I have to pick on.....

"The DS is ok, but it is hardly what I would call remarkable"

If you don't think the DS is more than O.K. then I would hate to see what a manufacturer would have to do to get to you buy there bike. Lord knows good ole Suzuki isn't producing anything spectacular. Sure the Z is nice, but is nothing out of the ordinary.

Baja, a modded Z WILL hang with a stock Raptor{pretty easily} not bad for a little 400. I think the Z is pretty remarkable, maybe because it just happens to be one of the best handling quads right out of the crate.

RODSQUADS, what's a TXR90? I'm looking for a quad for my 10 year old. Thinking about an LT80?

NewZman, the TRX90 is Honda's mini quad. Four stroke and four speed tranny and a little bigger in size compared to the LT80. When we only had Big Gun exhaust and K&N filter it almost always out dragged our LT80 that we sold to 14mins even though he added a Trinity pipe and clutch mods. Now that we added a high compression big bore kit{107cc}, 26mm carb and modded cdi box there definately is no contest. This thing hauls. Check one out at your Honda shop.

That would depend on what your doing with both modded quads. If it's drags then the Raptor has an advantage but on a MX track or in the woods ( GNCC ) the Z is going to do the same thing to the Raptor that the 400EX does. By the way, I like the ride that the big DS has but the woods are so tight around here that the size and fact that it doesn't have reverse really kills it's sales. I've only seen one in the Chadwick area.

Baja-I get the impression that you are maybe mostly a duner??? You seem to be enamored with how FAST the DS is. Sure the DS will go fast, and for wide open desert or dunes that (and good suspension) is extremely important. But, there are lots of desert trails out there too, and that is where the DS will always come up way short. The DS is NOT A MAGIC CARPET, and neither is any other bike. All we can do is try to get as close to a magic carpet as we can. If you love your DS, well go ride the tires off the thing (I get to ride the tires off of one, and I don't have to pay for it, he he)!!

YZGUY....

Yes I am mostly a duner, however I try and make it to some trails as often as I can. I never once said that the DS was wickedly fast, enamored I am not.... Yes it is quick, and I do like the power. Desert trails??? Isn't that what the Baja 2000 is all about? I seem to remember something about the winning team being on a DS? Looks like they came up short! Magic carpet it's not, but is it close? I think so.

We all like what we like for one reason or another, and I hope thats the way it stays. I wasn't on here trying to convince someone that one bike is better than the other. They all have their pros and cons, I was just giving my opinion so that he could get more than one side to the story, which is what the guy asked for. And not once did I say anything bad about anyones bike. Besides most of the time, I was talking about the Raptor anyways, I only mentioned the wickedly fast DS a few times. Calm down killer!!!

Baja-The SCORE Baja races aren't particularly technical. You race with big trucks and buggies, so the "trails" have to be pretty wide. The BITD races tend to be more technical, but again you are racing with the big rigs. The Baja 2000 win got my attention, but desert racing is still dominated by the good old 250R.

uhh, i dont know what those other guys argue about, a z is about $2000 bucks cheaper than a DS and about $1000 cheaper than a raptor. I would rather pay less and invest it in mods than to buy an expensive *** STOCK bike. Just depends and how fat your wallet is.
