Dude... no offence intended, but think about it.
At any kind of high RPM, your engine is sucking WAAAY more air in than a hair dryer could pump out... LET ALONE create boost. Dont try this. It wont work. A real turbo isnt just a big exhaust driven fan. Its a PUMP. A hair dryer, (or leaf blower) is just a fan. NOTHING like a pump. Take my word for it... it wont work. Dont waist your time. It will just block the intake flow and you will see no gain whatsoever.

I think what nostradamus is trying to say is: use the hair dryer to pull more air into the air box. It can be done. If you can mount the fan piece of the hair dryer into the back of the air box where there is a hole about 3' by 3' then you can you suck more air into the air box thus creating more air flow.

Bomb2000, Considering the list of stuff you have done to your DS, I would hope you
know a thing or two about how a motor works, and everything associated with it.
An engine spinning at 5-6-7-8-9 K RPM is sucking in so much air that a hair dryer (ESPECIALLY a computer fan motor!!!) would only be a BLOCKAGE in the intake tract. There isnt any kind of electric motor that would provide any benefit when placed in the intake. Doesnt matter where.
Even if it is only to bring fresh air IN, the engine is sucking through that hole more than the little fan motor could ever pull. BESIDES... what he said was.. "thought of using a hair dryer as a turbo ???"
Also, since you seem to know a little about how a turbo functions, you should already know that the turbine in the common turbo spins at around 100K RPM.... hence the spool up time.
Why dont you try this project, spend a few days/hours riggin' it up, then post your dyno results. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

the friend that i mentioned in that post was and is bom2000 and he without a doubt knows double what u know about cars,turbos atc. and also about blowing hot in to the engine on a hair dryer theres a little switch that say hot air or cold air all u have to do would be to use the cold air
