Default ZILLA GUYS, NEED HELP HERE!!!

Hey, recently I posted about the "pee hole". The hole on the underside of my Zilla leaking coolant.
I took the cover off, removed the impeller, ect. Cleaned it, locktight'ed the threads and reinstalled the impeller,
cleaned the mating surfaces around the o-ring, and reassembled.

Now, machine only run for 2 minutes, its been sitting. The other day, the bike started dripping out the hole. (bike untouched)

What do I need to replace? HURRY I NEED A TRIP TO GLAMIS SOON!!!!!!!

You need to change the mechanical seal immediately behind the impeller. It's part steel and sits flat on the surface behind the impeller (around the shaft of course) Take a very thin flat screwdriver to pry up the edge so you can grab it with a pair of pliers. When reinstalling the new seal you must take a socket that fits on the face of the seal to tap it in gently in the hole. Be very carefull here, the seal is mostly ceramic type plastic that is VERY BRITTLE. I wrecked the first new one I put in and had to wait another week to get a new one. Tap it in gently and make sure it's going in straight or it will break What did you LOCTITE IN exactly? Don't say you did that to the screw that hold the impeller in place!!! This screw is left hand (of course you know that) but it is made from the cheesiest, softest metal ever and if you loctite it in, you will never take it out. hope this helps

As stormnorm said you must replace the seal assembly. The half that goes into the backside of the impeller is very easy to remove and reinstall. The other half with the spring sits in the case, very carefully pry it out (mine was almost folded in all the way around before it turned loose), as Norm said use a socket to install the new one. When you ready to reassemble take alcohol and clean the seal faces, even the oil from your fingerprints will cause problems with the sealing surfaces. And be sure and replace the washer that goes underneath the bolt holding the impeller on.
Good luck getting that bolt with the loctite on it out.....................................

Truck Racer,
I was looking at you rpics and see your "banshee" ( bad bike by the way) has what appears to be en EGT guage. Where did you get it and what is involved in hooking it up? Thanks!

Thanks for the advise, guys... I only used loctight blue, so it shouldnt be too much of a problem getting it out.

Is the metal thing that looks like it is slid over the shaft and half way though the cases the mechanical seal? (the shaft spins inside it)?

Thanks..

I wish I could take credit for that Banshee, but I can't. I posted those pics 4 or 5 months ago for a discussion that was going on in the Yamaha threads. The Banshee is owned by Ron Wosel of Kansas and the pictures were taken @ Little Sahara, Waynoka Ok. You can read more about this bike on page 12 of the October 2002 issue of Dirt Wheels.

I also have a short mpeg of this beast racing @ Little Sahara if any one wants it emailed to them. You might have to wait a week as I am headed Houston for a meeting, will return Friday.

RoostKing, I looked and asked questions about the EGT setup, but I can't remeber the brand name. I know it was an easy install as it is completely self contained, the only hookup is the theromocouples going into the exahust pipes (2). And a tach hookup to the ignition. This model was also a recorder, he could play back the last run watching RPM's and temps at the same time.
