Recently purchased used '01 Quadmaster 500. Bone stock, 210 miles. It runs smooth, but doesn't seem to have the power of a 500. Also, I took it out on the road and it didn't seem to want to go much over 45 mph. How fast should it go, and I know power is relative, but should it have more power.

Mine goes about 60. It is an automatic so there may be some slipping in the clutch causing the power loss. The engine has more power than any other 500 except for the Vinsons so if it has less than a polaris there is a problem.

 

How can I tell if the clutch is slipping? Is there an adjustment that I can make? The owner's manual didn't seem to have any specific information...

 

The owners manual does not say very much on anything other than safety. I don't know how to adjust the belt or clutch but I think there is a way. When the belt slips it will not take off like it should.
