Default WARNING!! My HORRIBLE Experience with RECREATIONUNLIMITED.COM

This is what happened when I tried to buy something from Recreation Unlimited (recreationunlimited.com). Everything I say here is a statement of fact.

On 10/22/02 I ordered a hood cap for my Suzuki LT250R, I got it in the mail and it didn't match the radiator cover (both were blue, but different shades of blue). I wanted to exchange it for a red one and also get a red radiator cover so they would both match. I called them and got an RMA# and ordered a red radiator cover to go with it. When I got the RMA#, the guy said there would be no extra fees for the exchange.

Today I called them to ask where the order was since it had been two weeks. He said it was on back order. I was charged for the order on 10/31 and asked why it cost so much ($53.90 for everything). They charged me a $10 exchange fee for a $12 hood!!! That's rediculous! When I asked the guy why I was charged this even though when I got the RMA# it was never mentioned, he said it's stated on my receipt and that was it.

So, I told the guy to forget the whole order and cancel everything. Then he said there would be a restocking fee! A restocking fee on what!!?? I don't have any product!! I then said I would have to call my credit card company and ask them about this, he then replied very rudely "Don't call back!" and hung up on me!! How's that for customer service?

I called my credit card company and they credited my account for the charge pending investigation. From this point, I don't know what will happen. I don't like hidden fees and don't like being hung up on either. So be careful where you buy your stuff.

I usually order from DennisKirk.com and Rockymountainatv.com and never had any problems in the two years I've been buying from them. I returned something to Denniskirk.com once, and they had no restocking fee, you don't have to mess with RMA numbers, and give full credit back to your credit card. Recreationunlimited.com will only give you store credit. But Dennis Kirk and Rocky Mountain only carry one color of those plastics. I think I'll order from Maier direct to get red.

Go into a shop and order from a business front so you have a face to yell at with any concerns, you also support the local economy... mail order is cheaper, ask yourself why...? It sucks you had this problem

Thanks for the warning mrbones. I will not shop there. I too have had good experiences with rockymountain.

Rocky Mountain is good, I also have had a bad Experience with RECREATIONUNLIMITED.COM ordered a header for 400ex was told it would be delivered within 10 business days. 4 weeks later no header and they had charged my credit card on the day I ordered it. I told them to cancel the order and was told I could have store credit for my next purchase. So I also called my credit card company and they reversed the charges. Beware if they don't have it in stock don't buy it. or better yet stay with a good Company like Rocky Mountain ATV.

Mr Bones (boner). RaptorJay hit the nail on the head. You(and all the other .com freaks) need to support the kind hearted man at you LOCAL SHOP. Why? Because MR. LOCAL SHOP cares about satisfying his customers and needs the repeat business to keep his little shop's doors open. Everytime you do business with a huge conglomerate that doesn't care about you, the nice MR. LOCAL SHOP takes it in the A$$! Dennis Kirk didn't sponsor your local races or club rides, or stand there with a smile when some kid brings in his bike and a pipe he bought off ther internet and asks Mr. LOCALSHOP to install it and jet his bike for him! I know it's cool and fun to click on the little pictures and see it come to your door in a few days. Guess what? MR. LOCAL SHOP gets it too, and in the same amount of time. Mr. LOCALSHOP is also very appreciative at the end of a good week when he can feed his wife and kids (and pay MR. LANDLORD). People complain about the lack of race sponsorship or not being right at the track with a flea market so they can buy some oil or a freakin' brake lever. Maybe if people bought their goods at MR. LOCALSHOP in the first place; Mr. LOCALSHOP could afford some race support! By the way, MR. LOCALSHOP's prices are competitive, and keeps the customer's best interests in mind at all times. As some of you have probably figured out, I AM MR. LOCALSHOP! Yes, I offer exactly the same sevices found on the web, BUT I have a face, I have a name, I have a reputation and I support my community. So kids, I've taken up enough room on this subject. Give your local speed shop a chance, there are things you can get there you won't find elsewhere. My MR. LOCAL SHOP charged me 300 over retail price for my raptor along with fees to put together, and this and that.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img] My mr LOCAL SHOP hires idiots to service there products. Sorry you have to earn your business also.


Team Factory Racing suxs also. If you order something and tell the company when you need it by, if they can not get it to you WHY LIE?????????????

i to had a bad experience with rec ur stuff unlimited . ordered a set of wheels next day air paid with card , wheels came one was bent the other had deep scratches . o yea did i mention paid for next day but was sent out regular . they would not refund for the diff in shipping and said that they were not responsible for the damage to the wheels because when they left , they wetre fine . the bend i could understand but the deep scratches were in the middle . canceled payment then next month got a letter from their attorney . long made short . didnt have to pay but still cost me alot .

Because if they lie they take you off the market from going somewhere else.

Most of the time if you ask the local shop if they price match they will.

my local dealers are a bunch of jerks. they all act like they have the golden goose, and they never budge on prices

I do business with 1 dealer. The others around here sux. The 1 dealer that i do business does not work on raptors. (They told us up front that they can not service there products) They set me up on cost plus 10 percent[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] Most dealers around here are greedy and do not know there products. They are just looking to make a sale.
