Lt80 thats hard to keep running right after start
I have a problem with my sons Lt80 that i cant seem to fix. Frist off it only happens when its cold. I pull the choke, hit the starter and it starts right away. But if i dont push in the choke and give it gas right away it dies and acts like it flooded. A freind of mine thought it was the choke stuck or the carb full of dirt n'crap. So i took it apart and cleaned it completely inside and out. Next i cleaned the air fliter which was dirty. Changed gas in tank, and plug. The odd thing is, if it starts and you can keep it running for more than 5 seconds its good to go, runs great for the rest of the day. If it dies with in those frist few seconds, the only way to get it to start is pull the airboot and cover the carb with your hand and it starts with no problem or let it sit for awhile and try again. Hopeing so one as run across this before, and can help?.
Thanks.
Thanks.

If it starts with your hand over the carb, you’re definitely not running to rich. Sounds like its not getting enough fuel. Perhaps the choke isn’t working. On my lt250r, I choke it and kick it over 5 times with the ignition off. Then turn it on with the choke still on and it will start on the first kick.
Did you make sure all the jets were clear when you had the carb apart? You should be able to blow carb cleaner through all of them.

I let the carb and jets soak in carb cleaner and used my air comp. to blow about 40psi though them. Im think at insted of the choke being stuck open maybe the passage way is clogged? Ihavent done a true comp test , just the old finger trick. I'm going to buy a gauge tonight. Big M said that a 100psi, does anyone say the same , I dont have a shop book to check? By the way were's the guy that knows all about this Lt80s I think they said is screen name is Pro Lt80. Anyway thanks for the tips so far, Im going to work on it in the moring and try a comp test and maybe thats it? I hope not. Any one else?
Thanks for the help.
