LT230 project update, questions
#1
well, it runs, but it wont move. I guess the clutch is toasted. When it was running, I noticed that the side case in front of the chain was cracked badly, and leaking oil. AARRRGGGG. Also, it would sometimes lurch forward and stall, but still did not seem to be working properly. It acted like there was a drag on the engine, as if it were in gear, just not enough grab to move itself. Also, how does the reverse work? I hit the lever, and it just jumped backwards and stalled. Anyone have a side cover???

Lots of these cases are held together with JB Weld. If the nylon guides are missing, a broken chain ususally means a busted case/cover. Mine is holding up OK with JB Weld. A new cover is about $90. They do, however, show up on Ebay every once in a while, and go for about half of that. There is a guy in Maine who has sold a lot of LT 230 parts on Ebay, and he probably has a case. his email address is mayofarm@rcn.com.
