Default 03' Z400 Rev Limiter

OK, somebody help shed some light on my situation. I recently bought a Z400 with an Alba Package. Great bike but I've found out soon after that I couldn't even beat a stock Z400 because I hit my Rev Limiter before the stock Z400 did. Sure I could shift sooner but that's not why I bought the Z400 from Alba. Dyna is coming out with a FS Programmable Electronic ignition that will allow me to get up to 1500 more rpm before hitting the rev limiter. Can I change this without buying the new ignition device or can I do it with southern enginuity?

Hmmm....I'm about to buy the exact same thing, an 03' Alba Z400. How much did you end up paying....out the door?

Don't get me wrong. I love the bike and it's been great but..... If you want to do some seriuos hill climbing or race anyone you will need to get rid of the rev limiter somehow. Either buy the dig ignition or do it the other way. The bike was 5699.00 with the Alba package but I got all kinds of insurance and warranty, financing so it ended up beign a little more. The bike has a lot of potential though.

Ohwell, I just bought an 03 Z400 from alba. They haven't done any of the performance upgrades yet because they didn't have the k&n filters in. It will be interesting to see the before/after. Right now it halls ***, bone stock. Smokes my 98 alba warrior.

Dyna is the way to go. As far as I know, the stock ignition can not be tampered with.

(hint) isn't there a reason for the rev limiter? valve mass momentum? piston velocity? etc.....

Change your gearing go to a fifteen up front for a big change or to a 38 or 39 on the back for a smaller change. just my 2 cents. It will give you more top end and you will hit your rev limiter further down the track.
