Default Engine Oil Question

I just got the 1990 230e I bought running. Now I want to change the oil.
The problem is the manual calls for SE or SF rated engine oil. Unfortunatly they don't make those rated oils anymore.
My question is can I use regular Castrol 10W40 oil. The reason I am wearly to do this is because when I had my blaster
it said not use this oil only use yamalube because it could destroy the wet clutches in the tranny.

In the Quadrunner the tranny oil and engine oil are one in the same. Could I damage the quadrunner trannyoil by using castrol? I think probably not but what do I know.
