Eiger pricing and or problems with this quad
I am ready to possibly buy the 2003 Eiger this week, can anyone give me a low bottom price they paid or heard of, i was givin a price of 4700.00 plus tax for the Eiger auto 4wd, can i do better? is the auto a good decision as opposed to a manual cause of my 350lb weight? my uncle just bought a prairie 650 and is having belt issues, is there problems with there belts or any other issues with the Eiger? any input will be very appriciated?

That sounds like an excellent price. I pd. $4950.00 out the door w/ a nice helmet. I got the 5 sp. . it is faster and has more punch when you hit the throttle, so you might consider that. The auto is nice and not heard of any probs but it does have some auto lag. I think they are the best quad for the money out there. Yea, everyone loves the "mighty" 650 or whatever they call it, right till it blows a belt at 700 miles.

That's a good price for an auto - the lowest that I've heard of. I paid 4,890+tx for my 5-speed last year. Just make sure thay are not adding in shipping/dealerprep/etc to that price.
The only problems with the Eiger were with the first few production units two years ago. I haven't even heard of any auto belt problems, I was told by my dealer that the 5-speed had a little more power and speed than the auto, which makes sense.
You've picked a good bike.

That is a great price. I paid 4675 + tax for my 03 4x4 5 speed. They wanted 200 more for the auto, sometimes I wish I would have gotten the auto so I wouldn't have to listen to my wife BI**H about shifting. My 5sp has performed flawlessly and has done everything I have asked it to do. I'd say go for it you will not regret it.

That's not a bad price. I live near Albany, NY and there are a couple places advertising the 5 sp. for 4300 and auto for 4500. I doubt this includes prep, freight, and taxes. For about 800 more you can pick up the Vinson. I'm curious if it would be worth the upgrade to liquid cool, bigger engine........

Just took a long overnight trip this weekend in 6" of snow on the Eiger and it was treacherous ride. It did excellent and had just gotten my Warn 2000 winch installed and had to winch a friend up a hill. Even w/ stockers it outperformed my Yamaha and a guy's Arctic cat, (only a 250 though). Thinking of putting on some Mud lites, I like the idea of 6 ply lite weight tires . The cat broke a CV joint, though he was pretty much abusing it.

In Oct. I gave 5000 out the door for my 5speed 2003. Don't care for the belt drive for my use. Just as happy as can be with the machine. Came in a couple of hours ago from a 22 mile ride with a fair amount of mud and muck and it did just fine. The only downside to the Eigher so far that has been reported that I have knowledge of on a personal basis is they are a bit cold naturedwhen starting. This also cures itself after a hundred miles or so. Mine starts and runs just fine now. I looked at all the machines in this price range before I bought (drove all them too) and the Eigher stood out to me as the best machine.
I didn't change anything (like custom tires and rims) and I think you will be pleased. Top speed so far is about 47 to 50 but that was just run up and then cut it off. I think it is stupid to drive any atv at that speed. You are just asking for a crash.
