My LT500 is too fast!
Hello everybody,
I bought a neat Suzuki LT500 from a classified add and it is way too fast for me! I weigh about 130lbs and this four wheeler is too fast for me. I don't need all that speed so how can I make it slower? I think the unofficial name of my Four Wheeler is "Godzilla" if that helps. Any suggestions on how to make this four wheeler slower would be great.
Ok, Thanks,
Joe

Hey Slope, Godzilla is the monster that destroys your city not the quad that you have. Although it probably feels the same to you. I would recommend you give me your quadzilla and buy a pull start <100cc automatic quad. That should take care of the too fast problem.

How much did you pay for it? I'm sure someone would trade you a lt250R and even give you some money. You could probably find a LT250R that is mint and all decked out in aftermarket parts depending on the condition of the Zilla. The Zillas have a following of people, since it is about the most powerful quad ever. The LT250R would be very fast still, just not the arm riping fast that the quadzilla is. Your right and smart to realize that the LT500 is not a begginer quad. If you don't want to try a different quad it's going to be hard to tame that beast. Even with a smaller carb, the 500cc 2 stroke is going to have killer acceleration. By the way were do you ride? The Zillas are great in the sand and in the dunes because of the extra power you need there, but is kinda tough for even a bigger person to handle in the tight trails. Hope this helps

Slopehead, what kind of racing do you want to do? If it is MX, you could race your LT500 in an open class. If you are serious about racing I would think about a 250 2 stroke or 400 4 stroke. These bikes would give you more options on classes to ride in. That and you will have to get over your fear of speed.....racers ride fast...sometimes only a few feet apart from each other. It's good to have goals!

Why is everybody being such jerks. Slopehead is new to this forum, was smart enough to know a Lt500 was too fast for him and was looking for some help. Too bad he isn't an all knowing QuadGod like the rest of you. We all had to start learning somewhere. So he got the name of his quad wrong......it's not like he wanted to use a hair dryer as a turbo.
