Default Lt250R Clutch Question

I've recently rebuilt my 87 Lt250R motor top and bottom, and replaced the clutch when I did that. It seems to be fine when I'm riding, but what concerns me is that when the motor is off and the quads in gear if I pull the clutch it doesn't complelely let go of the gears. I can still feel the gears engaged when I push the quad. I've never seen this with other bikes or my Z400 and I was wondering if maybe it was the aftermarket friction plates or high tension springs. I am just wondering if I could have put the clutch back together wrong? Any ideas would be great!
