i cant decide!
i would really like to get the standard, but i dont want to end up breaking it. i dont really know about things like if youre going up a steep hill with having to shift. everytime my friends asked me if i wanted to ride theirs that werent automatic i said no since i was afraid of breaking it. so really, i am completely in the dark about shifting.

to shift. I am not sure how to explain it but you can feel the shift
point or where the engine is in its happy part and beyond that it just
sounds like the machine is in pain.

i own an 02 prairie 650 and i'd have to agree with maddog. you need to consider the over all size and weight of these quads. they might not be best for tight steep trails especially down hill when you really have to use your weight to counter balance and muscle the quad to prevent it from rolling.

its going to be my quad, but im not going to be the only one to use it. my dad is going to use it to plow the snow in the winter and maybe pull a few things with it, but nothing very heavy. its probably going to be the only quad im going to get until i graduate college and im old enough to get my own job and make my own money...so were talking at the least 4-5 years. so i dont want to go with anything that may not be enough power for uses 2 years down the road.

i push snow with my 650 and it works great. it's a pretty sporty quad (for a utility). the only problem that some 650 have is you need to make sure the belt is tight and thats really a pretty minor issue. big utility machines are not for everybody but i'm really happy with my quad and the v-twin has a ton of power!
