Z400 or banshee
#1
whats up erbody...im new to the forum. Ive been riding atv's for a long time but i havent owned a sport quad yet. I want somethin that has power and great handling too. Ive rode raptors, 400 ex's and banshees and out of those 3 i like the banshee the best. The raptor was powerful but just didnt feel like it handled as good as the banshee or 400ex. The ex was definatly the best feeling one but it didnt have the power of the raptor. the banshee felt really good on steep hills and stable everywhere and i loved the top end power. My question is does the Z400 have the power of a banshee and the handling of a 400EX? Ive been stuck in between these 2 quads and now that the Z400 is out ive been thinking maybe its what im lookin for. i mean i could test drive one at the shop but they wouldnt let me drive it over maybe 500 feet or something. ive rode the other 3 i mentioned in all conditions while trail riding. I couldnt really tell because i didnt ride em all at the same time, but it seemed to me that the banshee just as much power as the raptor if not more..but like i said those rides were like months apart. If the Z400 has the power of the banshee and the handling of the 400EX then its definatly what i want. Help me out here guys.

the z i am sure handles beter then the banshee and has beter shocks.. but it will never have the power of it.. you pipe a z jet it k & n wake that motor up nicely.... but ya... if you just wanna go fast on a stock bike the banshee is the only way to go... you will take z everywhere... flats... hills...hey maybe even trail.... its just really personnal preference

the Z does not have the power of a banshee...the banshee will blow it away in a drag race right around 4th gear....I think you should go with the Z anyway cause by the way you were talking it sounded liek your not going ot be doing much drag racing and the Z is better then the banshee in everyway except for a straight up drag race. IMO

Think of a machine that handles like a 400ex with a little more power & reverse- that's a Z400. It depends on what's important to you - power of the Banshee or better suspension, reverse, 4 stroke etc of a Z400. Also, your riding style and terrain make a difference. If it's slow, rocky tight trails the Z400 would be a better chopice. The Banshee is best for faster riding.

teamgrnMojave269.....i agree with ya on that. I think the banshee is ugly too..lol and i think the Z400 is the best looking.
WyoDuner.....I like to ride on the edge. I mean even when im just trail riding i like to think of it as a race..lol..a lot of ppl call me crazy. I like tight winding trails and thats what most of them are around here and the reverse isnt all that important to me but i wouldnt mind having it. Another thing is i love steep hills, almost like straight up. I know the banshee is known to be a good climber. Would the Z be just as good?
jdmimports79...lt250r90rdr.....drag racing doesnt really excite me all that much, but i still want somethin that has enough power to jump out of the curves and get up to speed when i do find a short straight. I live in Ky and most of the trails are in the woods or on big strips but there still isnt any straights that you can get a banshee up to 6th gear on.
Ive seen some banshees climb some amazing hills, but ive never even rode a Z and dont know anybody who owns one.

Yo Sams. Here is what I know from my personal experience. I have a Z400...only mod is a K&N filter and adaptor. A good friend has a banshee...Toomy pipes...K&N...rejeted carbs. Here is the deal. In a drag race...we r dead even. And we did it more than once to make sure! But reality is...you dont ride drag race style day in...and day out! The Z is FAR superior in the handeling/ride quality department. And has a much "trail friendler" power band. You wont be disaponited with either bike...but your comparing apples and oranges reallly. The best part for me is....i can ride for most of the day on a tank of gas!!! The banshe? Good luck getting more than few hours out of a tank. This is the first 4-stroke quad ive ever owned. Trust me...I'm DOME with 2 strokes!!! And one more thing...try kick starting a two stroke when your stuck on a 45 degree up hill trail!!! Elect. start and reverse make life a dream

First of all, Welcome to the Forums!
You are really comparing apples to oranges here... Ditto what WyoDuner and Rivermobster said!
Depends on your riding style more than anything...
Find someone that has one, and ride it before you lay down the cash!! I refuse to support the 4-stroke revolution, so the answer would be easy for me...
Good luck!

Here is the real question sams....how quickly will *any* quad GET to its top speed??? Know what im sayin??? If I had been racing a *bone stock* banshee that day...he woulda seen nuthin but my dust. Ive spent many hours on both quads...and you can see what i spent my money on. The choice is yours bro...good luck!
