Default Z stalls out at high speeds.....

My brothers Z is stock for starters, two weekends in a row out at the ice track his Z acts like it runs out of gas and dies after doing a few laps around the track. All I can tell you is that it had plenty of gas each time and if you let it sit for a few mins it starts back up. Does this sound like valves or electical, or maybe a fuel problem? any help would be great.

Try it with the fuel valve set on PRI. The fuel valve is vacume actuated, and maybe the valve isn't opening completely. A couple of laps would be about right for the float bowl to run dry.

My Z was doing the same thing starting last fall. I pulled the carb off to check for dirt and found nothing, but the thing would run at idle just fine. The next time I went riding it did the same thing, after a few minutes at high rpm, it would run out of fuel. Luckily, my tank was running low so I switched to reserve and it ran fine. The problem is in the fuel valve. I just kept the tank full and left it in reserve and it's ran fine ever since. (scared to price that little valve from Suzuki). Hope that helps....

If you just recently got your Z the fuel valve should be covered under warrenty.

Default Z stalls out at high speeds.....

I bought mine in June '02 and had the problem the first time in September. The same day, I was t-boned by a Blaster and had a new Z400 three-wheeler for almost two months until all the parts arrived from Suzuki. That put me into December before I was riding again and really started to see the problem and as luck would have it, warranty was up. Timing is everything...Hopefully coolintheice has better luck than I..

ps - watch out for those Blasters
