I use K&Ns on just about every vehicle I own. K&Ns are made from free-er breathing gauze material and can be cleaned. It's the last filter you'll buy. Just installing a K&N can correct/improve a rich-running condition (I think most quads are jetted for sea level; safer to run rich than lean) and in every case I've used one, there's been a noticeable power and responsiveness improvement. The only instance I've heard dispute with their application is in sanddunes. Their url is knfilters.com. I recall paying about $50 for the filter.

Regarding the K&N filter. I checked out the website, good info, thanks. I was thinking I could order one through the sight but I don't see this as an option.

Would a regular auto parts store carry them???

local parts stores commonly carry K&Ns. I'd call K&N to get the RIGHT part number and see if your store can order it. Otherwise, K&N will take call-in orders, but I think their prices are higher than you can get through one of their distributors
Let me know what you think after you get one. Good Luck!

I have an Arctic Cat 500 auto which has the same running gear as the the Quadmaster. I also get a noise when going down hill and applying the rear brake. This only happens while putting on the rear brake because the noise you hear is actually coming from the front differential. The noise is the front limited slip differential trying to engage because of uneven torque loads on the free spinning front wheels. Thus the differential is trying to lock up as if you were in four wheel drive. If the front and rear brakes are applied then the front axle has both brakes applied and there is no torque loading, thus no noise.

I have had this same problem w/ 99 King Quad. Last weekend i was rideing for about 2hours, shut the macine down and then went to start it back and it took be about 10min of trying to start it and finally it started. I rode for about another hour. Shut the machine down again, came back about half hour later and it would not start again. Again after about 10 min it started. I have not rode since that day, but will me riding this week end, if it does it again i will try switching to pri to see if it helps.

Later - rjmlakota-

Thanks minehunter!! Does your Cat have the 2/4wd select? Have you noticed if it matters which you're in; re: the noise?. Also, I recall the Cats have "linked" braking, in which case, they wouldn't make the noise I'm experiencing. Again, thanks for the explanation; I've been struggling whether to make a warranty claim. The A/C 500 auto is 2 or 4 wheel selectable. The noise only appears while in 2 wheel drive, hi or low range. The handlebar brake are the only ones that are linked front and rear. If you use the foot brake, this actuates only the rear brake. That is when I have the noise that i am refering to. If I apply the handlebar brake, I do not get any noise from the fronend.

I went this weekend with no trouble at all.

I went through a serious amount of water in a beaver bog and had no belt slippage.

Does anyone know how the 4-wheel drive system works on this Suzuki Vs. a Honda Foreman 450es? My brother-in-law has a 450es and he gets stuck a lot more than I do and we go through the same stuff. Does the 4-wheel drive system work the same on both models???

Thanks
