Default higher octane??

I have a basically stock 86 quadracer with not much more than a pipe, silencer and top end rebuild, I think a higher grade would be better for cooling, but would it hurt anything for me to use a higher grade octane than 87, any advice would be appreciated!!! Thanks all

If I had your machine,,I'd run 92 octane minimum.
NO you will not hurt anything trying a higher octane.

Default higher octane??

My 86 LT250 has higher compression than stock and has always run fine on 89 octane. The manual says 89 so that’s what I have always used. I got an infrared thermometer a few weeks ago and have found that the hottest mine ever gets is upper 160's on the outside of the head. I accidentally got 87 octane instead of 89 last week and it ran considerably faster. Since I know that I was running fairly cool to start (I ride hard in 90+ degree temps and weight 235), I am going to run 87 from now on. I would have tried 87 octane before but I didnt think it would make that much difference. Even with half 87 and half 89 in the tank it ran noticeably faster.
