A buddy of mine was having problems getting his 450es to crank. He was having to jump it to get it to crank so he brought it to me to try and fix. When I got it, it would not crank with the starter button (unless jumping it) or the recoil starter (could not pull through compression stroke). Here's is what has been done, changed the battery, adjusted valves, and changed a blown fuse. After adjusting the valves I could get it to crank with the recoil starter but still not the starter button unless jumping it. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Could it be the ignition coil?

i'm not sure what you mean by "jumping it" do you mean jumping the battery or shorting the selinoid i don't see any way that i it that it would have any thing to do with the ignition from what you've said.
but if it's the battery make sure that it has a full charge above 11.5 volts open curcuit voltage check for excessive resistance from terminals or connections or the like.
if i could get a little more clarifacation i might be a little more helpfull

Have you checked the voltage drop when trying the starter button? If it drops too much, have the battery load tested. Yes , you said it was new, but that doesnt mean much. The only good test of a battery is the load test.
Check the connections at the battery. They need to be clean and shiney at the faces of the two connections.
To check for clarity....will it start at all? Does it make any clicking sound, when pushing the starter button?
If you can start it(whatever method)...the ignition coil is good.

By "jumping it" I mean the battery. If I still need to have the battery load teseted let me know but it will start other four wheelers very easy and batteries from other four wheelers do the samething in this one. So unless I have like 3 bad batteriers in four wheelers that start fine I don't believe it is the battery. When pushing the starter button it will turn the motor over but when it gets to the compression stroke it just does not seem to have enough power to compress. It is not kicking back like it is trying to fire before TDC. It started and ran a couple of times and now nothing. Can't get it to start at all. It doesn't look to have any spark. That is why I was asking about the coil. What else could it be.

The starter brushes may be bad. Next time, try pulling on the rope pull when the button is pressed..kind of like an assist, and see if it spins then.
If you remove the spark plug....and hold against a ground, like the engine case, and pull the rope, with the key on...do you see spark?
