Default Installing winch on 02 eiger - suggestions

I bought a viper winch and am in the process of installing it. I have the winch mounted and most of my cables ran. I am think I'm going to mount the contactor in the storage box at the rear of the atv. I need to hook up the red wire coming off of the switch, but not sure of the best place. I was thinking of locating a wire that goes to one of the headlights. I know I will have to have the lights on when I want to use the winch though. Does anyone have any other suggestions where I don't have to remove the fenders or side panels?

Is there a better place to mount the contactor?

Thanks

If it's a waterproof contactor you can bolt it onto the side of the frame. If it's not, the storage box is a good place.

Does the '02 Eiger have a 12-volt outlet? That's what I tied into for my heated grips.

Yes it does have a 12V outlet. I actually decided that is what I want to tap into. Is there an easy way to find out which one of the wires is hot without having to cut into each wire? The wires that do go into the 12V outlet have some sheathing on them, so I can cut a small piece if the sheathing away to get to them, but how do i identify the hot one. I know I can use a volt meter. Should I just poke the probe into each wire?

Thanks

Well, I did some more digging and found a connector that the 12V wires go into. I found the hot wire. Can you believe the wire was red, haha.

Thanks for everyone's help.
