Rear brake problems-HELP
#1
I'm having some brake trouble with my '03 Grizzly 660. I took it to a mechanic for service, and told them to adjust the rear brakes because they seemed to be soft and not grabbing well. After having the adjustment (which I assume was and adjustment on the cable) I went riding later that day and my rear brakes totally locked up- you could not move the hand or foot brake, and the rear tires were not moving. After a few minutes, the brakes finally released and I was able to limp it back home. I took it back to the mechanic, who checked out my rear brakes and determined that I definitely needed new pads. They put on pads and off I went riding again. A few minutes into the trip and they lock up again! I let it set again for a few minutes, and quickly opened and then closed the drain (I guess?) on the rear caliper, and that released the brakes, and I limped it off the mountain and took it back to the mechanic AGAIN. They had no idea why my brakes kept locking up. I went riding the following day, and after about 5 miles of riding, they lock up AGAIN. I wasn't even using the brakes at all- I was going uphill! The only time I used the rear brake was when going into reverse or high gear. What's up with my brakes? Is it just a coincidence that it happened after the mechanic adjusted them? Why do they keep locking up? A friend of mine said that my brake fluid either got too hot, or maybe I had air in the brake line. Would that have caused this to happen? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
