honda hybrid 70cc battery problems need help
#1
Ive got a 70cc quad with one of those honda hybrid motors and i put a new battery in it after it sat for awile and started it up.Once I cut it off I waited about five minutes to crank it again and battery was dead as a door nail. What could be draining it that fast?

Typically the battery is seven amp hours. If the battery is good and was fully charged, to drain it in five minutes (1/12 of an hour) would require that you be drawing more than 50 amps continuously. 12 volts times 50 amps is 600 watts! All the quads I've seen have fuses at around ten amps. So unless your starter circuit (the only thing un-fused) is drawing a lot of current (and getting really hot), then it can't be going dead in five minutes with a fully charged good battery.
Are you sure your battery is dead? Are you sure your battery is good? What is the voltage on the battery? Do you have a charger? If you disconnect the battery wiring and then touch it to the battery (charged of course) do you see sparks? Have you taken the fuse out and inserted a current meter in its place to see what the actual current draw is? Is your charging system working on the quad (battery voltage measures more than 13.5 volts with the engine running)?
A new battery (where you add the electrolite) needs to be charged before you use it. You did that, right?
