Hard starting Timberwolf
#1
I have a 96 yamaha timberwolf that starts on the first pull with the pull start but is very hard to start with the electric start. This has been a slow thing over time starting. Started good with electric and slowly has been harder.Brand new battery installed..

2 things, either starter is getting tired, and spinning slower, making it harder to pull a good air/fuel mix in to fire, pull starting spins the motor much faster, so you get a good charge of fuel to start it. 2nd thing, motor may be getting a little worn, lower compression makes it harder to start, still good enough to start with a pull, but getting borderline with starter. Check your compression and see if it is still in spec for your motor, should be 110-125 psi for good starting, any lower than 110, and it may be time for a fresh top end.
