90cc 2-stroke top end rebuild ?
#1
Our 2005 bombardier DS90 has been bogging down so after the carb clean didn't work I did a compression test. I'm only getting 90-PSI after 5 kicks.
I am a DIY'er and I'm assuming I need a top end rebuild. I am a refrigeration mechanic and have the skill to work with tools but have never torn into an engine.
Can you guys point me in the right direction? Articles, what book/books I will need, youtube vids, anything that will give me a head start in the right direction. Shoot, I will even need a complete list of parts to acquire before taking the darn thing apart..
Thank you for any an all help guys, this really sucks :/.......

Hi Steve:
A two stroke is easyeeeepleaseeee. You just pull take the 4? nuts off of the head and lift the head off.
Then take the carb off of the boot and take the 4? nuts holding the jug to the case. Put the piston at BDC and lift the jug off of the case.
I don't have any books or know where you can get any for torque values and stuff like that. Might search the net or ask at the shop when you buy the parts you need for the rebuild.
Good luck man.

Thanks Dt. You were right, it was easy as heck. For about 125$ in parts and another 20$ to have the cylinder honed the little quad runs like a champ.
I think I'm going to do my other sons Sportsman 90 for 145$ and give that bike a little get-up-and-go too
!
Thanks,
