96 Polaris 425 Magnum 4x4
Just joined the website and had a couple questions to ask.
I just bought a 96 Polaris 425 Magnum 4x4 with 1,100 miles on it. I bought it knowing that the wheeler didn't run right. I thought it was the carburetor or the cam and it turned out that neither were the case. The air filter was too dirty and when I replaced it, the machine ran fine.
My questions:
When I put the wheeler in reverse, it wants to choke the engine off IF I don't press the yellow over ride button.. Why would it do that?
None of my lights work except for my orange Reverse light. Is there an in line fuse?
I had it on a gravel road and the speedo only maxed at 35 mph.. I've been on snowmobiles long enough to know I wasn't going faster then that... What should the max speed be? Stock of course
Thank you, Nolan

Pull the front panel and disconnect the black wire from the reverse over ride limiter. This defeats this crappy module and allows full speed in reverse without holding the over ride button.Item #27 on the parts break down.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki & Kawasaki OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse Dash lights take small bulbs. You have to carefully pop the lens out to get to them. The speedo is cable driven and goes to the transmission adapter. You might try to lube the cable up first and see if it helps. If it doesn't help, the adapter may need to be removed and greased up.Top speed on average for the 4x4 was around 50 mph or so. Items#23 through 30.
