Default ECM Question

Does anyone know if the ecm is that same on a 04-06 sportsman 500 ho (pn2203348) and the 08 sportsman 500 ho (pn4011568). They look the same and both have 16 pin connections. The reason is because of price. Thanks

I just searched Polaris parts and it doesn't show a part #2203348 for anything they make, ATV or otherwise, for any year. #4011568 is used on these so I would have to say no they aren't the same. #2203348 may be the kind that was causing ATVs to catch on fire and burn to the ground. If it is I wouldn't buy one no matter how cheap it is.

Not sure why it didn’t pull up the part number.. I checked again and I could pull it up.. the ecu replaces the one that catches fire and both ecu look the same the only differences I can see is the year model ones for 06 mines an 08 and the price ones 150$ the other is 500$. I was hoping someone could tell me the difference if there is any. Thanks

Where are you looking up those part numbers. I'm looking here. http://parts.polarisind.com/Browse/Browse.asp
I'd rather get the cheaper one too if it works. I checked again and can't find part number 2203348.

I just looked up a 2005 and 2006 Sportsman 500 H.O. and found this. 4011110 Module, Controller Usage:
2006 ATVSPORTSMAN
2006 ATVSCRAMBLER 500 4X4
2006 ATVSPORTSMAN 450
2006 ATVSPORTSMAN 500
2006 ATVSPORTSMAN 500 HO INTL
2005 ATVSPORTSMAN 6X6
2005 ATVSCRAMBLER 500 4X4
2005 ATVSPORTSMAN 400
2005 ATVSPORTSMAN 500 HO/INTL
2005 MILSPORTSMAN 6X6 MV

For 2004 I found one that was only used in 2004. 4010937 Module, Controller Usage:
2004 ATVSPORTSMAN 6X6
2004 ATVA04BG50AA SCRAMBLER 500 4X4
2004 ATVA04CH42AQ SPORTSMAN 400
2004 ATVA04CH50AQ SPORTSMAN 500

I've never seen a high number part (401xxxx) replaced by a lower number part (220xxxx) but I guess it's possible. Maybe they ran out of numbers and started over at the beginning, like an odometer rolling over to 0000000. If one part replaced the other, the new number should show on the Polaris parts site. I just checked again and nothing came up for that number for any type of vehicle. Who said part number 2203348 replaced part number 4011110?

I found a Polaris site that shows your very expensive control module only works on an '07 and '08. And I was able to find part number 2203348 on there, even though their parts site says it doesn't exist. It says 2203348 replaced both 4010937 and 4011110 and will work on 2004, 2005 and 2006 models. The 2 part numbers that it says it replaces are what their parts site lists for the 2004 and the 2005-2006 models. I have no idea what's different between that part and yours but something must be. That's the first time I've ever seen a lower part number on a replacement for a higher part number, so now I know that it can happen. The Polaris parts site needs to be updated if that's right. If you said where you looked before I would have looked at the same pages too. Maybe it was these? I would ask Polaris about it.
