Default 2002 Warrier - magneto wet with oil

Just finished my first rebuild of an 02 Warrior 350. Owner's kids ran it out of oil and smoked the con rod bearing. One thing that puzzles me is that the stator and flywheel were wet with oil and I wanted to make sure that is normal? As far as I can see form the original motor and the parts diagram the main bearing on that side has no seal and there is also an open journal in the bottom of the casing for oil to freely flow into there. I would imagine the starter clutch gear needs some lube. But I've opened a lot of motors and this is the first one where the stator, magneto and pickup were exposed to oil. Want to be 100% sure I'm not missing anything? Thanks folks.
