Default GM Crate Engine info

I was looking on Jegs.com at some crate engins. The engine is a Deluxe 350 HO it is a 350ci w/ 330hp and 380ft. lbs. of torque. I was going to put it in a '87 K10 Custom Deluxe truck with a 305. The truck has 170K miles on it, it is in good shape but I know that before long it is going to bite the dust. Does this sound like a good combination and what are some good combinations that has worked for some of you guys? Is this too big of a step up from the stock engine and transmition? Any help would be great. Thanks!!

I am not sure what trans is in it, does it say somewhere in the ownermanual or on a body sticker or somewhere, where can I find out? It is supposed to be a heavy duty trans made for hauling and towing trailers if that can tell you anything.
and thanks for the help

I found a small metal plate on the back of the transfer case but is this for the trans or just the transfer case?
