Default Dodge Powerwagon

I love my Cummins too much, otherwise I'd be on it like white on rice!

Default Dodge Powerwagon

Dodge has some pretty cool info and pics of the PW on their site These are just some of the specs on there that I found interesting. Especially the LSD rear diff that can be fully locked. Sound sjust like the new Detroit E-Locker

"Axles

* American Axle TracRite GTL electronically actuated locking rear differential operates as helical limited slip differential when disengaged
* American Axle TracRite EL electronically actuated front differential operates as an open differential when disengaged
* Both front and rear electronic axle lockers are controlled by a switch mounted on the instrument panel
* Lockers engage only in 4WD low, when vehicle speed is below 3 mph and adequate left-to-right wheel differentiation occurs to allow the dog teeth to align; once engaged, the axles will remain locked through the entire vehicle speed range
* New 4.56 axle ratio only available on Power Wagon
* Material added to the differential housing protects the differential cover from possible damage

Suspension

* Ram 2500 4x4 architecture: 5 link solid front axle with a Hotchkiss rear
* Significantly revised front coil and rear leaf springs increase ride height, soften spring rates, and increase axle articulation
* Ride heights increased by 1.8" (45 mm) front and 1.4"(35 mm) rear over the Ram 2500 4x4
* Spring rates
Power Wagon C/O 2500 4x4
Front Rear Front Rear
Jounce 137(5.4") 191(7.5") 102(4.0") 191(7.5")
Rebound 140(5.5") 81(3.2") 100(3.9") 81(3.2")
Total 277(10.9") 272(10.7") 202(7.9") 272(10.7")

* Bilstein high-pressure monotube shocks
o Longer and larger 45 mm monotube (vs. 35 mm twin tubes)
o Higher pressure (250 psi vs. 50 psi)
o Superior high-speed damping
o Increased durability

Underbody Protection

* All New steering damper skid plate
* Transfer case skid plate standard
* Fuel tank skid plate standard
* All new fore-aft bars tie the transfer case and fuel tank skid plates together and fill the open areas between them to prevent rocks wedging between skid plates
* Revised boxed skid plate X-members
* Standard forged trailer hitch withstands higher-impact loads

Winch

* Created by Warn Industries specifically for Dodge Power Wagon
* Integrated into Power Wagon behind front bumper
* 12,000 lb capability
* 7/16" galvanized aircraft wire cable
* 90-foot cable (80 feet usable)
* Thermal protection for winch
* Low-voltage protection for vehicle electronics
* Fully sealed
* Remote control cable (12 feet)
* Roller fairleads protect cable during side pulls

Transfer Case

* C/O Ram 2500 / 4x4 2.73:1 (NVG271)

Transmission

* Five-speed automatic
* Six-speed manual (late availability)

Engine/Transmission Calibration

* Modified for PowerWagon During 4WD low operation
o Shift points moved further out
o Throttle pedal response softened
o Idle speed increased from 650 to 750 rpm

Electrical System

* Battery increased from 600 to 750 amps
* Alternator increased from 136 to 160 amps "

Hehe, I find that amusing. You call it a Heep, but it's the only real useable 4x4 on the market....

Cheapass, the owner of a 92 Wrangler with 237k miles, at least 100k of it on high mountain trails in Colorado....stock.
