looking for aluminum snowmobile trailer
#2
oops pushed the enter button. I am looking for a 10' aluminum snowmobile trailer, just a basic open tilt to haul the two sportsman 700 EFI's. I had a previous thread for thoughts on the 4x8 trailers from harbor freight but then I seen one going down the expressway with a quad on it and it barely fit on it. I now figure that if I spend money on a trailer I should just get one to haul both quads. I have been pricing out the all aluminum snow trailers from triton, karavan, bearcat, and floe. out of all the brands I looked at the triton and floe trailers were best. the karavan and bearcat trailers did not have much of a lip on the sides and the aluminum wasn't welded very well. all the welds I seen on the karavan and bearcats were undercut and burned. they still had the black smokey residue on the underside. the floe trailers were very nice and had a sweet tilt mechanism, finished welds and good treated flooring. I think out of them all the triton was the best bang for the buck, I looked at the xt and lt models and found that the xt model would be perfect for what I would use it for. the lt had thicker flooring and ski holddown sliders built into the floor which I wouldn't use anyways. the xt has just a solid treated plywood deck flooring with a lifetime warranty but still has a stationary threaded nut recessed into the floor for the included ski holddowns and about a 4-5 inch raised side. all the welds were clean and looked good, unlike the cheap quality of the karavan and bearcat trailers. my next question is if anyone around the flint area knows the cheapest place to pick up a triton xt-the lowest price I have gotten so far is $999 plus tax.

Hey Silverbullet,
Have you looked at the Triton UT-88? I have one and haul a Rincon and a Grizzly. It doesn't tilt but has a ramp that goes beneath the bed for storage. You can load single machines from the rear or two over the side. I've driven 70 on the interstate and the bikes don't move at all. Plus the trailer has a torsion axle like sled trailers which makes it track real nice. I too agree on the quality of the Triton. Good luck!

$999 is not that bad really. Any idea what a 12' model would run? I am wanting to sell my utility trailer to get one of these, but have to travel north to at least Iowa to even look at them.

good lookin trailer bones. I bought the triton last night and got a 1000LB. tongue jack from harbor freight for $17.99 on the way home from work and put it on last night when I got the trailer home. the damn dealer wanted $60 for a tongue jack, wow that's rediculous.

Great trailer. We have a Triton SL8 two-place side-load ATV trailer. It weighs 300 pounds. Have been 110% satisfied and would recommend one to anyone.

I was looking into that trailer too but the problem is that all the local trailer sales places in my area only carry steel trailers. I didn't want to drive a long ways or out of state even just to get an aluminum trailer so I went to my local cycle/snowmobile dealer to find the aluminum trailers. I paid $981 plus tax for a total of $1040 out the door. the license plate cost me another $75 and was a permanent plate.

There are three Triton dealers within 75 miles of me, not one of them floored any Trition trailers. Two of the dealers tried to talk me into another trailer, steal. The only thing the could say bad about the Triton is that they were more expensive than the steal ones. One of the dealers told me it would take him over 2 months to get one. I hate liers.
One dealer had two 4-place Triton snowmobile trailers he sent rentals out on and was quite happy with them. He was the only one that would order a Triton for me and was the furthest from where I live. It only took 5 days to get it from the distributor in Bonesteel, SD to a little town, Kamas, Utah. Thanks Wellers.
One of the best choices I have made. Congrats on your new trailer.
