Default Hummer H3

Did a search for Hummer on here and no hits. My 2001 5.4 F-150 supercrew is getting on up there in miles, and I dont really need the truck bed no more, so I was thinking of getting a Hummer H3. You really cant beat the price. I payed close to that price for my current truck. Anyway. Any thoughts on them, as far as towing and such.

Not sure what they are rated to tow,but it can't be too much. Probably in the range of 2,000 to 3,000 lbs tops. The H3 is based on the Colorado/Canyon PU and is very underpowered - only available engines are the I-4 or I-5. Although the I-5 puts out decent power for it's size, going from a 5.4 V-8 to an in-line 5 cylinder will be a shock.

As with the H2, IMO it's just a status symbol. The only thing I can think the H3 would be good for hauling is kids to soccer practice.

You guys see the advertisement of the H2 with the motorcycle in the back of it, on a rack? I can't imagine loading that thing, with the way they have it set up

The H1 was truly impressive, even in the civilian model. After that, they just were just making money off the name. Haven't seen that ad. It's just my opinion, but I rate the H3 up there with the Honda Ridgeline. Strong enough for a man, but made for a woman.

The H3 has high ground clearance, high approach and departure angles and a really low, low crawl rate - giving it some decent off-road abilities - especially when compared to most small to mid-sized SUV's. Other than that, it's just a mid-sized GM SUV that gets by on the Hummer image.

i only like the h1..h1's are true hummers..then h2 are nice..but the h3's look like S^&*!! like common..least they could do was make it look half decent...or put it on a full size chevy fram and not a colorado frame..like hummer could make good money if they would make another true off-road vehicle..but it still b a casual around town truck too..like the look of an h2 but the set up of an h1

jsut my thoughts

ok, a little underpowered and it is no speed demon but i know a few with them and it really appears to be solid-with decent snappiness. has huge leaf springs and stuff- way more heavy duty than the gm trucks. crawl under one and look. its still a very meaty vehicle even though its the smallest hummer. but i dont think its a bad deal. dealers will let them go very nicely equipped for the upper 25-28K range. the H3 will be going thru mud holes and more rigorous terrain when your (and my) Z-71 is looking for someone to pull us out. if GM would just get rid of this insane 5 cylinder crap and stick the inline 6 in it would be a better truck. havent heard of any quality problems yet either, unlike the canyons/colorados. id get this or a 4runner with the 245hp v6.

Default Hummer H3

Just joined the Forum so this is my 1st post, but I have to speak up and defend the H3...We bought one in Nov 2005. I wasn't thrilled about the 5 Cyl Motor, but it was time to give up our gas guzzling Suburban...

I did Lots of research before we bought and was impressed with everything but the engine power...Test drove one with the idea we would compare it with some other SUV's we were interested in...I was very impressed...No its not an H1 or an H2...But, we wanted something smaller that still isnt afraid of going Off-Road...and doesnt cost $140K like its big, bad brother Alpha H1...

The Low-end power is nothing like our 6.0L 'Burb, but on the Top-end it gets up and goes... We decided to buy 1 that day...Since then we have taken it on several road trips and just got back from Pismo...

I hauled my Quad Trailer and 2 quads down there with no problems at all...Then we took the H3 out into the Dunes and played...It had absolutely no problems in the Dunes at all and I pushed it hard...

Any doubters can go to Hummerhub.com and look at the posted Pics from 2/11 and 2/12-Not a Plug
Ours is the Boulder Gray(Almost Tan) in the Pic's.

Default Hummer H3

It needs a high power v-6, or v-8, with todays suv's 220hp just doesn't cut it.
