Default POLARIS DEFECT OR OWNER ABUSE ??

Hey everyone, wanted some input on this one, I along with two of my buddies we all have the Polaris 500 HO 2005, Mine and one of the others is carb, then one is EFI. The EFI recently lost a lower ball joint while it was being driven and it caused massive damage, A-arm bent, axle broke, front differential destroyed. The guy is pissed big time he says he was just driving along. I spoke with one of the other riders that was there that day and he said he was in a full wheelie going down hill when it broke from impact with the ground. It threw him over the bars and destroyed lots of parts. I know the owner and he is constantly pulling wheelies ,I mean one after another, but should this effect the ball joints. I never pull a wheelie(too old for that I guess) I checked my ball joints and they seem fine. The dealer is saying that when he came down it must have caught a rut or something. So my question is anyone else experience this? Should wheelies even bother your ball joints? Is this something I need to fear when going 50 miles an hour down the road?

Think that's gonna fall under abuse. These things aren't made to constantly have their own weight (which is a lot) slammed down on them. Some wheelies, ok. Constant wheelies, not ok. Plus, going downhill and doing a wheelie isn't the smartest thing to do.

Yours and the other person should be fine. Privided you don't try to outdo the wheelie king.

You might want to post in the Polaris forum to find more answers about your quad.

The Sportsman's own weight was not designed for "wheelies" As a matter of fact though half of the fun is pushing your machine to it's limit when you ride. So I think you should prepare accordingly if you abuse your equiptment. Stop whining about "bad" design if your beating uo your stuff and something breaks. Just my 2 cents.

Whew i just read my post and I sounded like a D&*K, sorry, I meant to state that in general. Too many people I ride with beat up thier machines and blame it on the brand. For example I was riding in southern Iowa and a young man was riding a Grizzley taking jumps and getting about 15-20 foot off the ground. We all watched in horror when his right front tire busted off the machine. He left by ambulance that day and I overheard some of the other riders bashing Yamaha. Poltab, no need to apologize I agree 100% that's one of the reasons I posted it. The guy is blaming it on the bike and I say hey if your going to run hell out of it then it will break
