I decided not to fret over the new 2007.5 diesel truck emissions, and bought a pre-emission changes 2007 GMC.
We just got back from our first trip with the new 2007 GMC/Duramax. It is a one ton crew cab dually 4x4, and we towed our 37' triple axle fifth wheel toy hauler. The total weight of the trailer after adding water, fuel, and gear is within a few hundred pounds of the trucks maximum rated towing capacity (16,950 lbs). Our trip was just one hundred twenty miles round trip, with the trip their being downhill 3,500 feet in elevation, with a tail wind, and the return trip being uphill 3,500 feet in elevation, into a 40 to 50 mph headwind.
We got 15.9 mpg on the downhill trip. I was so excited; I had never got such good fuel mileage towing that semi truck height fifth wheel. Too bad we got 7.7 mpg on the return trip though . The truck tows great, and I couldn't be more happy with it.
