enclosed trailer vin number locate
#1
I bought an enclosed trailer about 4 years ago and now I no longer need it. When I went to trade it in on a new flatbed trailer I was told the VIN number tag was missing. They were able to get the number off of the trailer somewhere else to run a check on it but I don't know where. I need the number to try and license the trailer so I can get rid of it. Does anyone know where else it might be? Thanks for your help......

Usually it's on the tongue. Generally trailers have their information someone on the left (driver's side) front. If it was a home built unit (not usually home built) then there probably won't be a tag. If it's a bought trailer, usually they are a metalic like sticker. Could be just a sticker on the tongue somewhere. Usually the VIN should be stamped into the frame itself (especially if it's a manufactured trailer.)

It's a Pace trailer and I think it was on the front...it looks like the tag has been removed so I was wondering where else the VIN could be. I guess I'll check all over the frame tomorrow and see if it is engraved on it somewhere.

Ask your local police for help on this. Most licensed units have to have the VIN stamped into the frame as well as the handy tag on the tongue, if a trailer, or on the dash if a car. These are used by police to identify stolen vehicles. This info is several years old but I suspect still valid.
