Anyone tow their ATV with a car?

Call me Tom
It's the 5' x 8' from Tractor Supply Company.
I drive my cars pretty hard, so it's most likely operator error.
Going up graded highways is always fun....need to get a "running" start! LOL!
I usually do not get out of 4th gear and drive no faster than 65 MPH.
Got stuck once going up a very steep local road. Had to unload the quad, THEN
proceed forward....luckily I was about 100 yds away from my destination.
The wiring harness' made for the Accords didn't fit my '03 2-door, so we had
to go with a generic harness. No problems there, just a few days delay waiting
for it to come in.
Found the receiver hitch no problem and it installed perfectly.
Also bought a flat-foot swivel jack for the tongue with works great.
If you have an automatic, I'd highly recommend a transmission cooler.
If you have a standard, just don't do any jack-rabbit starts and wind
the gears out.
I'm finding that ~60 mile hauls is as far as I want to go with it. My
"regular" haul to my friend's trail head is about ~12 miles, and my
club's trail head is about ~48 miles away. I do those without any
real issue (except the uphill grades! DOH!)
So, in a nutshell, if you play it smart, you shouldn't have any problems.
Hope that helped a little.

Thanks Tom,
unfortunatly my car is an automatic (but the price was right). My dad always talks about towing boats (~600lbs) behind his mini many years ago with 36hp and I'm sure much smaller brakes (and then his subsequent early 80's civics). I'd like to think my accord can do it I will be going about 2300km this spring with it and probably a total of 1000-1100lbs when all is said and done. Hopefully if I take it easy everything should go well. I'm looking at a 4X6 or 4 1/2X7 1/2 trailer from TSC so it should be a similar weight to yours.

Wow.....long haul!
Take what I say with a grain of salt as I'm not that mechanically inclined....so I'm hoping others will jump in with some sage advice....
Not sure about the 94's, but my 03 is "unofficially" rated at 1000lbs. I think I'm hauling around 950 lbs with trailer and "wet" quad.
Good news is that you can install a tranny cooler relatively cheap.
Bad news is I think you're towing at max or just above.....UGH! LOL!
I was looking into heavier brakes myself, but I'm broke at the moment.....DOH!
So, best of luck to you and hope the rig performs!

Tom,
I forgot to ask, how high are the sides and front on your trailer? My accord is rated for 1000lbs, I was always told that was a suggestion not a law. New civics are rated for 0 but I was told by a dealer you can still tow with them.

maybe trailer brakes and a brake controller would big help in the shopping department. I myslef am considering going down in size getting tired of having to put gas in my mother gmc sierra. its a wonderful truck but man every time i take that thing to the pump o! I put $85 in tank.
my hyundai accent wont allow any towing sadly which leaves me that I'll keep it for a couples years and pay a head and early to make up for the cars bad deperation. once im to the point where i dont have to roll anything over then im looking into a crossover or light suv.
in the mean time im even going to look for a lighter trailer with trailer brakes.
my dad recommends a minivan and im going no way. the CUV ive consider chrysler pacifica because of the 2600lb towing cap without oil cooler. with oil cooler it think it 3500lbs. I hope towing an atv doesnt void Chrysler's lifetime power train warranty.
